This week press got their hands on the upcoming God of War for the first time since last year. With that, we've learned a whole lot of new information about what is shaping up to be one of the year's biggest games.
With God of War nearings its April 20th release date, let's go over some new facts about the game.
1. There are no loading screens
Yup, you read that right. You won't have to worry about staring at a blank screen while waiting to actually play the game, which you usually have to deal with in console games. As explained by the game's Director of Cinematography, Dori Arazi, the game uses a "single-shot effect" where gameplay and cutscenes melt right into one another, with no downtime. This is a game that can actually play without having to regularly take Cheetos breaks.
2. It's taken inspiration from The Last of Us

Although at first it seems an unlikely scenario, the team behind God of War has apparently taken great inspiration from The Last of Us. Quite a few journalists have written about it, arguing that the game features the same kind of gritty, mature atmosphere along with cutscenes that look better than just about any other game out there. Considering The Last of Us is one of the greatest games of all-time, that's a good thing.
3. There's a photo mode
It's clear at this point that God of War is a spectacular looking game, and its development didn't skip out on the opportunity to take full advantage of that with a full-feature Photo Mode. You'll be able to pause the action and zoom in for a good look at Kratos' angry face, or capture a violent image for your friends. It's up to you.
4. Difficulty settings to choose from

Most God of War games have difficulty options, and this one will not be different. Though, this time around there will be four settings, the hardest of which is called "Give Me God Of War". This difficulty will prevent you from lowering the difficulty and will put you at a serious disadvantage. Good luck.

Lastly, development has already wrapped up. That means this game isn't getting delayed, and the development team has a month to put together a day one patch that'll eliminate any issues it finds in the coming weeks. Get ready for war.
