Destiny 2 is a first-person RPG hybrid that's a hoot with friends online.

Blizzard's annual Blizzcon is going down and partner-company Activision popped into announce that they're giving away Destiny 2 as a one-year anniversary present. The online-only first-person shooter was released October 24th, 2017. It's developed by Bungie, but it's a little less Halo and a little more RPG.

PC gamers must claim their copy by November 18th, and Destiny 2 is theirs forever: free of charge.

The announcement got gamers hyped at Blizzcon a bit more than the announcement of Diablo Immortal, a new mobile RPG by Blizzard. Fans hoping for a look at Diablo IV were let down.

Destiny 2, however, is still kicking online. Three expansion packs have been released, the latest being Destiny 2: Forsaken, and now all three can be had in the one Forsaken bundle for $39.99.

In this part of the gaming calendar loaded with hot releases, Activision's betting that you might play their game if they give it to you at no cost. Check it out on the Battle.net client.
