If you’re not keenly following what’s going on in the Manosphere at any given moment, you’re missing out on tremendous content, like videos from “The Modern Day Knight Project,” a boot camp for “entrepreneurs, executives and leaders” who want to be the best versions of themselves as “leaders, husbands and fathers.”

While it sounds potentially empowering, in reality, all it is is an incredibly expensive — we’re talking $18k here — boot camp where you’re paying to get yelled at by an incredibly angry bald man while being made to do ridiculous tasks that will somehow make you a modern day knight, or something. Where are the jousting competitions designed to attract the attention of a fair maiden princess, or better yet, fight for her hand? What about any of this relates to knighthood in any way? Don’t monarchs determine who is and isn’t a knight? I can’t see King Charles signing off on any of this.

The experience lasts for three days, and is designed to help you “shatter your self-doubt” and “dig deep into your past and uncover the experiences that are holding you back from achieving greater levels of success in your life.” Men will literally pay tens of thousands of dollars to get yelled at in order to heal their trauma rather than go to therapy, something that primarily exists to help people heal their traumas, costs far less money and involves significantly less yelling.

According to the website, men have traveled from all over the world to attend this bootcamp, coming from Australia, South Africa, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands for the unique experience of being screamed at and made to dunk backpacks into water, for some reason.

What the existence of this overpriced bootcamp tells us is that the men yearn for war zones, or at least an opportunity to prove to themselves and those around them that they’re incredibly masculine and impressive. The great news for these men is that war zones still exist and the army is always open to new recruits, but that would probably come too close to putting themselves in actual danger instead of the manufactured, controlled danger of pretending you’re an alpha male for three days.
