Far Cry 5's Dust 2 map.

The gaming kingdom is abuzz about Far Cry 5 this week. Not only have reviews been overwhelmingly positive, but its subject matter has been admittedly controversial in the current political landscape. Although a lot of the attention is being paid to how fun it is to run around the game world shooting things and exploring, its map editor deserves special recognition.

Available on both PC and consoles, it's called Far Cry Arcade, and it allows players to create custom maps, going as far as even allowing up to 6 v 6 multiplayer matches. This is something we really haven't seen from a mainstream shooter since DOOM came out nearly two years ago, and given the amount of creativity among gamers, it isn't surprising that it's already paving the way for neat ideas.

Among them is a map called Dust 2. If you've played Counter-Strike before, then you're well aware of what we're talking about here; long A, catwalk, double doors, tunnels, and all the other goodness. Yup, the entire map has been recreated in Far Cry 5, and gamers are actually waging battle online using the map.

See how it looks:

The proportions are a bit off, probably because the map was made in very little time. But, generally speaking, the map flow and design has been preserved surprisingly well. Just don't expect to see Cloud 9 battling against SK Gaming for a tournament trophy in this version of Dust 2.

Created by map maker David Johnston, Dust 2 was originally released in March 2001 as part of the original Counter-Strike. It has since been a mainstay of the series, becoming the most played map across all three Counter-Strike titles.
