Before it got recalled, the Cybertruck had a problem. Well, about a million problems, but there was one problem specifically that could have been a real issue for anyone who enjoys having their hands.

In short, the motorized front truck wouldn’t stop closing, no matter what you put in its way. This meant that if you slapped a few carrots — or fingers — you were at risk of having them chopped cleanly in half.

Thankfully, Tesla recently released a software update that reports to make the front trunk safer. Unfortunately, those who have tested it say it’s still not up to snuff — specifically, this one guy, who decided to test the safety update by putting his finger in the way of the closing front trunk.

A man named Jeremy Judkins has been posting a lot about his Cybertruck and recently decided to test the new front trunk’s safety in the dumbest way possible. In short, he put his finger in the way of the front trunk, just after observing that it could cleanly slice a carrot in half.

The video goes exactly how you would expect. Judkins’ finger is nearly crushed by the front trunk, and after he pulls it out, he’s amazed by just how much pain he’s feeling and how much apparent damage was done to his finger.

“I feared for my finger for a second, not going to lie,” he says. “That’s kind of bad. My finger is shaking. It kind of locked down on it, and I was a little bit freaked out because I didn’t know how to open it up.”

Should have thought of that before you put your finger in it, buddy.

Thankfully, Judkins’ finger is okay, and hopefully he learned an important lesson about sticking things where they shouldn’t go.
