It's been five years since Grand Theft Auto V came out. At this point a lot of gamers are wondering when the next game is coming, with no hope in sight. While most attribute this to modern development complexity, there's definitely more to it than that.

During its earnings call yesterday, Take Two Interactive revealed that Grand Theft Auto V sold 15 million units in 2017. That made it one of the top five best-selling games of the year, despite being the only one on such a list that wasn't a new release.

In simplest terms, people are still buying this seemingly ancient game, filling Take Two's pockets while it can take its time on other projects.
