One British teen took the term ‘Accident and Emergency’ as a directive, busting into a Liverpool emergency room with a DIY flamethrower.

Several already-ailing patients’ days went from bad to worse last Monday when a 17-year-old prankster decided to crank up the heat, sicking a homemade flamethrower crafted from what appears to be an aerosol bottle and a lighter on those waiting in the A&E ward at Royal Liverpool University Hospital.

Fortunately, no one was seriously injured in the incident, which has since gone viral on r/PublicFreakout, the teen was quickly apprehended by a hospital staffer before landing an evaluation from mental health experts.

“We don’t condone acts of violence or aggression and the safety of our patients and colleagues is our priority,” a representative for Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust told Daily Mirror of the incident, noting that “the matter has been referred to Merseyside Police."

As local authorities look into the incident, the people of Reddit got a head start on evaluating the attack, giving the teen a taste of his own fiery medicine with several brutal roasts.

“How that kid wasn’t immediately laid the f—k out is beyond me,” wrote u/DidYaGive while u/BoogerPresley speculated on his motives.

"I know a trick that'll get you to the front of the queue," they joked.

Though getting a flamethrower to the face is never a fun experience, it could always be worse — if they were on our side of the pond, the pleasure of getting sprayed with fire would have come with one hefty price tag.
