PUBG rare item leopard cloth mask

Items trading for ridiculous amounts of money on Steam's Community Market isn't exactly new, especially in the case of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. After all, this is the game where buying a school girl's uniform will cost you over $1000, and a pleated mini-skirt will cost you more than a trip to Costco.

But there's an argument to be made that these items are kind of funny, and certainly make you stand out. The justification is there for the rich if they really want to defend themselves.

That same excuse doesn't apply to really any of PUBG's newest items, which were added in this week's update alongside some performance optimization.

Take for example the Sleeveless Biker Jacket; it might make you look like an even more unfashionable version of William H. Macy in Wild Hogs, but gamers are shelling out hundreds of dollars to get one.

The most egregious example is of the Cloth Mask (Leopard), though. This small sheet of cloth that will probably never be seen by another player unless they're standing a foot away from you in the pre-game lobby is fetching thousands of dollars ($1866+).

These bloated price points fall largely on item rarity. As indicated by data that circulated the community this week, several of the new items have a drop rate of 0.01%. Apparently that's so low that it'd take, on average, 80 years to obtain one if you didn't outright buy it from the market. WTF?

But who am I to judge? Considering PUBG is currently the world's most popular online game, and you can impress the ladies if you get a Winner Winner Chicken Dinner, maybe standing out is worth it.

I just started playing PUBG again yesterday, and can confirm that the v1.0 update is solid. If you have the game but haven't played in a while, consider trying it out. If you don't have the game, chances are you'll be playing it sooner or later since it's practically taking over the gaming industry. See you ingame.
