On September 22nd, the prototype “SeaPod,” a $1.5 million floating home of the future, capsized the instant it was unveiled and subsequently sank. The eco-restorative abode was engineered by Panama-based technology company Ocean Builders. 


Ocean Builders innovates with the aim “to develop revolutionary blue technology that makes the 72% of the world that is covered in water into an eco-sustainable paradise,” according to their mission statement. “Our technology will allow civilization to move onto the sea and it will unlock the ocean as a new frontier with a quality of life that is unbeatable anywhere else.”




Unfortunately, the unceremonious unveiling didn’t imbue much confidence in the noble, perhaps even idealistic mission of President and engineer Rudiger Koch and CEO Grant Romundt. Instead, they kind of just gave house-flipping a whole new meaning.
