Spyro the Dragon Remastered PS4 then vs now comparison.

Yup, Spyro the Dragon's remaster is real. Not only that, it's coming in just a few months.

Along with today's official announcement that Spyro the Dragon Reignited Trilogy is a real thing was the release of a video trailer and a handful of screenshots. With this, we're able to look back at just how much better the first game looks after being remastered in 2018 compared to its original 1998 version.

For context, in 1998 the Nintendo 64 (a 64-bit console) was considered the most advanced gaming technology. Blocky character models, simple lighting effects, and 640 x 480 resolution were the status quo at the time, and even then PlayStation's Spyro the Dragon was a masterpiece.

In-fact, these are the specs of the original PlayStation that Spyro ran on:

CPU - 32-bit MIPS (33mhz)
GPU - 32-bit R800A (33mhz)
System RAM - 2mb
Video RAM - 1mb
Resolution - 640x480 (SD

And here's what you get with the PlayStation 4 Pro, which is lready a couple years old now:

CPU -x86-64 AMD “Jaguar”, 8 cores
GPU - 1.84 TFLOPS, AMD Radeon™ based graphics engine
RAM - GDDR5 8GB
Resolution - 3840 × 2160 (4k)

Quite a difference. And with that, we're able to re-experience one of the 90's best games with the following visual upgrade:
