The Game Awards have come to an end. Not only has The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild been crowned game of the year, but we also have some new games to look forward to.
To get you up to speed on what was announced, we have listed the biggest announcements below.
1. Bayonetta 3
This announcement almost doesn't make sense given that Bayonetta 2 sold poorly on the Wii U. But apparently PlatinumGames likes working with Nintendo, and Nintendo likes paying the studio big mafia money for its sexy action series.
Nintendo consoles might be known for their family friendly games, but Nintendo is clearly trying to disrupt that to some degree. And honestly, it's the right move given that a lot of us who grew up on Nintendo are older adults now, and definitely like to stomp around destroying weird looking enemies as a hot chick every now and then.
2. Breath Of The Wild's Second Expansion
How Nintendo is able to prevent its developers from leaking this blows my mind. Not only is a new expansion announced, but it's already out.
Made better, this isn't just another challenge expansion like the last one. This time around we have some quality single-player content that's in-linen with what made the original campaign so compelling. You know, new dungeons, story, and the sort of thing that will make sure you don't go outside this Christmas.
3. Death Stranding
I don't know what the **** I just watched, but I want to play it. As if I didn't know that already when Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro's names were put behind the production.
4. From Software's New Game
It doesn't get much more cryptic than this. This trailer shows a torture device of some sort digging into a bone. It's kind of gross, makes an obscure reference to shadows, and generally makes no sense.
We'll probably be speculating for the next four months or so with just about no useful information, but hey, at least we know From Software, one of the best RPG developers of this generation, is working on something new.
5. PUBG's New Desert Map
We already knew it was coming, but this trailer went a long way toward making us want to play it. The map appears more detailed than the original, and will mix up the tactical style of the game considerably to make sure we look even more noobish.
Arriving at the same time as the v1.0 update, we're really excited about having a reason to head back into the game and try things out.
6. SoulCalibur VI
Most gamers are really not interested in fighting games (I'm one of them), but there's something cool about SoulCalibur making a comeback. Maybe that's because it's one of the OG AAA fighting games, or just that it has a really cool name.
Whatever the case, what's here looks great, and hopefully it turns out remotely as good as the previous games.
7. World War Z
You might not be playing as Brad Pitt, but we're okay with that. World War Z was an awesome film. How could they get this wrong?
Then again, video game adaptations of films rarely work out well. But for some reason we have a great feeling with this one.
2018 is going to be a solid year.
