Call of Duty: WWII initially performed reasonably well, with a Metascore of 80 and week one performance that topped the past three games in the series. However, things have since slowed down, to a point where the game is being beaten out by Destiny 2, Super Mario Odyssey, and Star Wars Battlefront 2 during the most important time of the year: when everyone is putting their Christmas trees up.

With this, Activision is making moves to allow retailers to drop the price a few bucks, and opening the gates to a bunch of noobs who may have been holding off at $59.99.

Amazon is now selling Call of Duty WWII on PS4 and Xbox One for $37.99. Listed as the Deal of the Day, it's currently trending as the hottest game of the past 24 hours on the site, giving the game the boost it needs to not look silly once NPD Group releases its software chart at the end of the holiday season.

Call of Duty WWII is said to have a good campaign and some neat new ideas, although the overarching design still hasn't changed much in the past eight years. So all that crap you hear on social media about Call of Duty being boring every year. Yeah, that still applies to some degree, but if you're feeling like playing a World War 2 shooter, then you don't have much choice.
