Peacock has just released the first teaser of the upcoming 3-part Casey Anthony documentary. Maybe now it's safe to say that our true crime obsession has gone too far. Casey Anthony was accused of murdering her two-year-old daughter, Caylee in 2008.

Anthony was found not guilty of first-degree murder and was convicted only of providing false information to police. She was released on July 17th, 2011.

Caylee was first reported missing by her grandmother. Her body wasn't discovered until 5 months later in the woods near Anthony's home. The Florida-based prosecution sought the death penalty for Anthony. Her defense relied heavily on the claim that Anthony had been assaulted and abused as a child turning her into the victim. They also claimed that Caylee had accidentally drowned, but gave no real explanation for how it happened.

The prosecution however couldn't prove how exactly Caylee had died as the cause was listed as "death by undetermined means." The defense team capitalized on this issue by stating the prosecution was using "fantasy forensics."

Now, some twelve years later Casey Anthony is getting her own platform to share whatever nonsense she wants to spew.

The teaser trailer comes on the heels of the Netflix hit, Monster which was renewed for two more seasons. If you think this glorification and obsession over true crime has reached critical mass you aren't alone, the only question left to ask is, how far will this obsession go?
