Though one couple may have headed out for a comedy show date night, their evening on the town turned out to be no laughing matter, the pair calling it quits in the midst of a comedian’s set.

Atsuko Okatsuka recently headed to TikTok to offer fans a glimpse at her chaotic Bay Area show, depicting the exact moment a couple called it quits midway through her act.

“Did she just leave you?” Okatsuka asked the now-former boyfriend seconds after his girlfriend had stormed away from their front-row seats.

Yet before he could reply, his ex lover decided to chime in.

“Yes, I did!” she fired back.

After a few moments of questioning whether the unfolding drama was a regional quirk — “I’ve never dealt with a live breakup before,” she told the audience, “I’m not Matt Rife, I don’t know what’s happening” — she decided to attempt some impromptu couples therapy, digging into the causes of their split.

“I just wanna know what I can work on,” she joked.

While the exact reason why the woman in question stormed out is unclear, it seems Okatsuka’s set may have played a role, the now singleton explaining that the pair had previously watched — and enjoyed — her HBO special before hitting the theater.

“Tonight she was like ‘oh man it’s a little different,’ or is that what happened?” the comic joked. “Because I’m not doing the same thing that’s already out?”

Yet halfway through their session, Okatsuka’s husband stepped in to save the day, doing his damndest to reconciel the scorned lovers.

“This show is about love and your woman is right out there so we’re gonna talk to her!” he said before yanking the audience member out into the lobby.

It’s still a mystery as to whether the pair were able to reconcile, but one thing is for sure — this whole ordeal is still funnier than Matt Rife.
