If you like playing addictive games like Warcraft, StarCraft, Diablo, and Overwatch, you've certainly heard of Blizzard Entertainment. Considered one of the most successful developers in the industry, it's created IPs that are played by millions of people, and responsible for creating characters that make for hot cosplays.

The company wasn't always colossal, though. In-fact, Blizzard was started by two individuals with a small investment of $20,000. And half that was thanks to the kindness of a grandma.

Learn More: This Is How Blizzard Entertainment Got Started

When speaking to Blizzard founder Michael Morhaime, PCGamer learned how the business got started. He said:

Allen and I each contributed $10,000. In order to get my $10,000, I borrowed $15,000 from my grandmother. She didn't charge me any interest, that was very nice of her. Before we had any games, before we had actually done anything, this was basically the doors opening and us starting out.

Blizzard is now valued at over $14.7 million USD, and has more than 4,700 full time employees.

Many might not know this, but Blizzard's first games were RPM Racing, The Lost Vikings, and Rock n' Roll Racing for the SNES. At the time the company was known as Silicon & Synapse. It wasn't until 1994 that it changed its name to Blizzard Entertainment. That same year it would deliver its first major hit in the form of Warcraft: Orcs & Humans.
