lil wayne - forgets lyrics

Lil Wayne is a diamond-certified rap and hip-hop artist with five Grammys, 120 million total records sold, and 109 Billboard Hot 100 hits. With thirteen studio albums and twenty-nine mixtapes, we can forgive Weezy if he forgets a lyric every now and then. But in this interview with Darnell Smith, we learn that Lil Wayne, whose given name is Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., hardly remembers any of his lyrics. In a fun segment, Smith reads some of Wayne's lyrics back to him and the rapper can't help but become a fan of himself.

@have.ctrl Lil Wayne forgot he's a good rapper ???? #lilwayne #weezyfbaby #liltunechi #hiphop #raptok #viral #fyp @Lil Wayne ? Lollipop - Lil Wayne

The clip has 29 million views on TikTok and fans couldn't help but joke about Young Tunechi's reaction. "Bro forgot he was Lil Wayne," one person commented. "He probably went home to listen to Lil Wayne," said another. "Lil Wayne became Lil Wayne's fan real quick."

Aside from his sheer volume of work, Lil Wayne's writing style is to blame for his 'forgetfulness.' As he recounts in this interview with Jimmy Fallon, he doesn't write anything down. "I just go in there and what I was feeling that day is how it goes."

He goes on to admit that when he performed on 'The Tonight Show,' staff had to help him type up lyrics to study before his performance. But just because Lil Wayne can't remember his work off the cuff, doesn't mean he doesn't know it when the time comes. In his Darnell Smith interview, he makes a similar remark. "You gotta catch me on tour," he says. "On tour, I know everything."

Lil Wayne also admits that he Googles his own music to help him in his writing process. In a clip featuring Eminem, he reveals he does this to make sure he hasn't already written what he's writing. Eminem claims to do the same.

All artists have their own processes and it's clear that Lil Wayne's works for him, as he is arguably the ''best rapper alive,'' his words not ours, though we doubt he remembers writing them.
