We talk a lot about dudes posting their Ls, but this may be among the most heart-wrenching Ls that’s ever been committed to internet text.

Redditor Commercial_Mission51 is married. Good for him. However, he and his wife have been fighting recently. In fact, the fighting has gotten so intense that she’s whipped out some of the darkest stuff imaginable. Specifically, she said she’d rather be with her ex-husband, who is dead, than OP.

“Yesterday we had a very ugly argument about something trivial, and she said she preferred her deceased husband to me,” writes OP in a post on r/Relationships. “She said this with so much anger and disdain that I was surprised and hurt.”

“She apologized later and said she didn’t mean it, but I can’t look at her in the same way,” he continued. “I feel like I’m a substitute; she never acted like this in our previous two years of marriage.”

Yes — I, too, felt bad reading this. However, commenters on Reddit were remarkably understanding. “Given that your previous post from a month ago was about her spontaneously wearing her late husband’s ring again, I’d say something much deeper is going on here,” observed a commenter before recommending counseling.

As you can see, users on X/Twitter were significantly *less* understanding, with the general consensus being “lol fuck her.”

Still, some on Reddit were just amazed that his wife decided to go there in the first place. “Wow I’m not sure that she could have said anything meaner to be honest,” stated a commenter. “That was a horrible and [unacceptable] thing to say no matter how angry she was,” echoed a second.

So if you ever go too far in an argument with your partner, just show them this post to prove that it can always get worse.
