Amid their busy schedule of looking after America’s national parks and fielding a brand-new barrage of questions about cocaine and bears, and cocaine bears, the National Park Service managed to find the time to issue an important PSA  — don’t feed your friend to bears, asshole.

On Tuesday, February 28, the government agency took to social media with a message for their more than 1 million Instagram followers about not only bear safety but friendship.

“If you come across a bear, never push a slower friend down…even if you feel the friendship has run its course.?” they mused in a now-viral tweet.

“If not friend, why friend shaped?” they continued in a subsequent post. “What about your other friend? Seeing a bear in the wild is a special treat for any visitor to a national park. While it is an exciting moment, it is important to remember that bears in national parks are wild and can be dangerous.”

Garnering more than 7.2 million views in its first day on the platform, the post raises an excellent point — make sure you’re faster than your hiking pals.
