Sorry, Area 51: The global hub of alien activity is no longer the New Mexico desert; it’s in one British man’s garden.

The world first discovered this new, purported ET on February 2nd, when a since-deleted Redditor headed to u/MushroomID to get some clues on a strange item unearthed in a pal’s yard. “A friend found this in their garden, any ideas?” they captioned the post, denoting that the sighting took place in the southeastern region of the U.K.

Yet where OP and their buddy saw shrooms, several others saw intelligent life, flocking to the comments to reveal that there may be more to it than just a fungus amungus. “That, is an Alien,” insisted u/45Golden as joeblow1234567891011 suggested the poster take this find elsewhere to r/alienbodies. “(They) will have a field day with this,” they wrote.

Meanwhile a few shroom heads took a much more practical approach to the object, arguing that even though it’s a spitting image of Xenomorph, the purported growth might still be of terrestrial origin. “I’d probably say it’s roots, not AI, but I’m a mushroom person not a plant or AI person,” speculated r/MushroomID moderator Intoishun.

“It’s more likely a root vegetable (turnip, potato or albino/sugar beet) that grew funky,” speculated doktornein. “It may be infected with a fungal pathogen or parasite.”

Whatever it is, there’s no doubt it would go really great with some homemade pasta and brown butter sauce.
