Rest in peace Wii Shop. It was fun downloading games I never played for more than 20 minutes. 12 years is a long time in the video game world. The worse part is we lose the theme music that was a certified banger. The Nintendo Switch is a great console but it doesn't have the bangers for it's menus.

It was a good run. Some great games, but most importantly, that great song. Iconic and beloved the Wii shop music will be playing at funerals and graduations for decades. Spawning many remixes and tributes the Wii Shop Theme will go down in history.

Nintendo said in 2017 that they were shutting down the Wii Shop Channel. Beginning on March 26, 2018, with Nintendo blocking the ability to add money(points) to the channel using either a credit card or Nintendo Points Card. 

Judgement day is January 30, 2019 when the Wii Shop will finally close making you unable to buy Wii Fit again so you can stare at the Wii Fit Trainer.
