Voted the best PlayStation 2 game by IGN, Shadow of the Colossus is a very special game. Just like ICO that would come before it, and The Last Guardian after, it was an emotional journey that was a strong case for video games being art, to a point where even Roger Ebert showed respect for it.


This week Sony announced that a complete remaster of the game will be coming to the PS4 next year. To be clear, it's not an HD upgrade like the PS3 port, but the sort of thing that is actually worth your attention, and is being given considerable thought.

That's not to say it's perfect, though. Some hands-on previews came out today that argue that its controls are still finicky like back in 2005. But the big theme here is that the game looks downright gorgeous, taking advantage of the PS4's much superior hardware.
