Long before Wile E. Coyote began faceplanting into extravagantly painted landscape portraits, it seems yet another group pioneered the Looney Tunes-ass past time of getting bamboozled by obvious decoys — German Nazis.

In the final months of  World War II, the American military powers realized that killing Nazis wasn’t the only way to defeat the Axis powers – fucking with their heads was more than sufficient, creating an entire fake unit nicknamed the Ghost Army to make their presence look more intimidating.

Created by a team of artists, sound engineers and designers, this army was the stuff of Nathan Fielder’s wet dreams, featuring inflatable tanks, fabricated radio communications and faux announcements.

Take it from the U.S. Army: Faking it ‘til you make it is never a bad idea.
