Video games are filled with wild powerups you’re meant to eat and weird creatures to either befriend or defeat. But what if you could treat the creatures like the powerups?
That’s right: there are certain creatures we’d prefer to kill and eat. Here is our guide to the tastiest critters as well as how to cook them!

1.
Kirby
Kirby is a fascinating video game paradox. After all, he’s a cute and sweet Nintendo mascot that wins the day by defeating and then cannibalizing all his foes.
But what if we could cannibalize Kirby? He’s already a weird marshmallow-looking dude. We’d really love to melt this guy down into some homemade marshmallows and then eat him inside some sticky S’Mores.
A perfect dish to stay nice and warm during the fall season! -
2.
Pikachu
Pikachu soon became the de facto mascot of Pokemon. And given how popular that series became, Pikachu also became one of the most famous video game characters in the world in very short order.
How would we cook Pikachu, though? No need to overthink it: in Pokemon Quest, you can attract Pikachu by using Watt a Risotto. And once you kill and clean Pikachu, his meat would taste wonderful inside a ground beef risotto.
Just don’t tell Ash what you’re eating! -
3.
Lemmings
The idea of killing and eating some of these beloved video game characters may seem like sacrilege. But when it comes to Lemmings, let’s be honest: you have to move heaven and earth just to keep these little guys from killing themselves.
So how to best serve Lemmings to your hungry guests? Honestly, we think these guys would be the perfect protein inside your sliders. And you can customize each slider in a different way as an homage to the different functions of the various Lemmings! -
4.
Slippy
In most Star Fox games, Slippy plays the important role of giving you information about the enemies you face. But he is also so whiny and needs rescuing so often that many players have dreamed of killing him.
What to do afterward, though? Well, the world is full of great frog recipes. Slippy could be easily transformed into some fried frog legs. And if you’re still hungry, you could easily turn Falco into a tasty fried sandwich! -
5.
Toad
Toad has always been a mysterious helper to Mario. After all, he is simultaneously a royal servant and a walking, talking mushroom.
This is why we’d like to make Toad part of rigatoni with mushroom sauce. Not only is it tasty, but this is a great pasta dish that Luigi could feed to Mario in a twisted bid for revenge.
Sorry, Mario. Your therapist is in another castle! -
6.
Om Nom
You might not even know Om Nom by name, but you probably know the face. This is the little guy that you have to feed tasty treats to in the Cut the Rope game.
Since this dude basically lives off of candy, we’d recommend cooking him into a mincemeat pie. This should help you achieve the sweet/savory flavor you are going for while you enjoy the rush of nomming on Om Nom. -
7.
Slimes
In the Dragon Quest series, the Slimes quickly became cute little mascots of their own. And we do think they’re cute…cute enough to eat, that is!
Instead of eating one Slime at a time, we recommend you kill several ones of different colors. You can then create rainbow gelatin cubes to serve to your guests as tasty, colorful treats! -
8.
Murloc
For some of these game creatures, we had to search far and wide for the perfect recipe. But when it comes to the Murlocs of World of Warcraft, the game is already filled with great cooking ideas!
The most iconic would be the Westfall Stew, which calls for you to add Murloc eyes to a strange mixture of Goretusk snout, okra, and stringy vulture meat. Considering how the quest giver expects you to murder entire family lines just to make this stew, we’re assuming it tastes pretty damn good! -
9.
Pac-Man
Pac-Man is famous for scarfing a power pellet and eating those pesky poltergeists. But what would it be like if you could eat Pac-Man himself?
Since Pac-Man already looks a bit like he is made of candy, we’d recommend melting him down and using him as the primary flavoring for some hard candy. And with some careful carving or molds, you could even serve Pac-Man up in his iconic 2D form! -
10.
Chocobo
The Chocobos have become an increasingly important part of the Final Fantasy universe. And it’s safe to say that many franchise fans like these creatures a lot more than they do any given entry in the franchise itself.
But that doesn’t mean we don’t want to taste these dudes. Fiction Food Cafe has a great recipe for a meatless Chocobo Curry where the yellow rice looks like the creature’s head. We’d like to build off that by creating a similar curry using Chocobo as the protein.
How bad could it possibly taste? Definitely better than a Phoenix Down!
