Days Gone - Sony’s first major zombie game in like, forever, has to be a good one, right? Well, that’s debatable, but the game has managed to build a loyal community of staunch supporters. Days Gone is an open-world title that is full of DayZ like zombies. The PlayStation exclusive is now playable on PC as well, and it’s certainly a good one.

Resident Evil 2 Remake - Capcom has been busy lately. With Resident Evil 8 almost here, they have somehow still found the time to rework Resident Evil 2, which is a great step in the right direction. The game is not a one-to-one remake of the original, but a brand new game with the story of the classic Resident Evil 2.

Telltale's The Walking Dead - This title gets overlooked nowadays, especially since Telltale’s older games aged poorly in terms of visuals. But the first season of The Walking Dead remains the greatest in the series. The entire Telltale TWD series, while more story-telling based is a fan favorite among zombie lovers.

Left 4 Dead 2 - Valve is known for making some seriously great shooters and Left 4 Dead 2 is one of them. The music, the ambiance, and the co-op gameplay all live up to the hype. This one-of-a-kind zombie shooter is a must-play, and for fans of L4D2, its spiritual successor, Back 4 Blood, is set to release in 2021.

State of Decay 2 - The first installment in the State of Decay series was regarded as the ultimate open-world zombie experience. And State of Decay 2 improved on this winning formula and though it suffered from a lackluster release, it soon became a highly rated sequel. Dead Rising 2 - Capcom loves making post-apocalyptic games, which is why they’ve built an impressive portfolio spanning numerous franchises. And Dead Rising 2 is one of their best. Dead Rising 2 improves on the original title in nearly every way. The custom weapons, fast-paced story, and third-person gameplay are still worth it today.

The Last of Us - Naughty Dog’s version of zombie apocalypse comes from the concept of cordyceps infection. This real-life backstory is enough to give TLOU a realistic tone that works. The first part of the series is still considered one of the best PS3 games ever, and it’s all because of the hard-hitting story. Though the LOU2 is more contested, few will disagree that it does a disservice to the genre.

Killing Floor 2 - Killing Floor 2 is a game for people who enjoy wave-based shooters. This game has some great blood and gore effects, so killing waves of undead really never gets old. With tons of weapons to be purchased and incredibly fun gameplay, KF2 stands out as one of the best undead shooters on steam.

Zombie Army - The Zombie Army series has been a bit of a hype train in recent years and that's all thanks to developer, Rebellion Developments, and their attempts at giving players something unique in the genre. Zombie Army is a spin-off of the popular Sniper Elite series and provides similar gameplay, except it's the mid-1900s, and there are zombies all around.
