When Joshua Brook discovered he was in possession of The One Ring card from The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-Earth set, he hadn't won the lottery, but he'd certainly gathered some real-world magic.
Joshua has been a Magic: The Gathering fan since childhood and knew exactly what he had when he laid eyes on the completely unique, one-of-one card. His odds of pulling it from the set were about one in three million.
In a now-viral video, Joshua filmed himself holding the card, with his hands visibly shaking from excitement. That excitement was for the life-changing $2.6 million he got for the card, which he sold to the rapper and well-known Magic fan Post Malone.
"When I found the One Ring, the first person who came to mind was @postmalone," he wrote. And although he stated that he'd love to keep the card, that was never an option.
"Being able to sell it is life-changing. I just really hoped it would go to someone who would appreciate it as much as I do. This is my dream come true."
Post Malone has previously purchased the rare Black Lotus card for $800,000, and is very public about his love of Magic.
"I'm glad the ring was found by someone that really needed it, and ended with Post," retro.pep commented on Instagram. "Posty is the ring bearer now."
