Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has a function it calls scorestreaks that can be more useful than you might think. If you learn to use them wisely, they can actually help you dominate the arena and vanquish the enemy without breaking a sweat.
Here's everything to know about scorestreaks and using them to your advantage in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.
What are scorestreaks?
While most games let you reap rewards for killing streaks (or the consecutive number of times you kill off someone), Call of Duty multiplayer takes things up a notch with scorestreaks.
These are basically team-based objectives that can help you earn points to unlock advantages that turn the tides in your favor.
For instance, your scorestreak will be accrued over the course of the match, which means that you don’t lose progress if you die.
This encourages players to go on the aggressive rather than stay in defense mode for the sake of keeping a killing “streak”.
What are the best scorestreaks to run?
Requirement: 1000 points
Effect: Provides a massive advantage for your team by revealing enemy positions even through the Fog of War for a short period of time.
If you can see through everything everywhere, you get the upper hand.
It's ideal to use at the start as you rack up kills and work toward bigger points.
Cool down is 90 seconds so use it wisely
Requirement: 2600 points
Effect: Lets you control three missiles that are synchronized.
You can direct these missiles at players or even at a certain area of the map.
Best used at the beginning of a round to disrupt players running together toward an objective.
Requirement: 3500 points
Effect: Grenade launcher that provides high explosive damage to players in one hit.
Useful for when you’re aiming to control certain locations and map areas.
Kills made using the War Machine also count toward your killstreak, so it’s ideal to use when you’re the aggressive type.
Requirement: 6,000 points
Effect: Death from above. Lets you act as the gunner in a close air support helicopter.
Powerful but hard to earn.
How to get points and other stuff to remember
Keep in mind that you get 50 points per kill, and on the fifth kill, you get a bonus on Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War streaks. 10 kills in a single life also gives you bonus points, while multipliers escalate after that with 500 points per kill.
When you get 30 kills, you get a Nuclear medal for bragging rights on top of the 3,000 point boost, so you can really take your pick from all the available scorestreaks out there.
We hope this handy list makes you an absolute powerhouse in the game, because scorestreaks are definitely way better than a lucky streak when you’re at war.
