1. EMMA STONE
Emma Stone is a hugely popular actress these days, and of course, she has the flaming red hair and alabaster skin that matches the game version of Aloy. Some of her most popular movies include The Help, Easy A, and The Amazing Spider-Man series, wherein she performed the juicy role of Gwen Stacy. But the role that really qualified her for this list is that of Wichita in the films Zombieland and its sequel, Zombieland: Double Tap. Therein, she played an apocalypse survivor chopping zombie heads and kicking ass to protect her little sister. This is the type of brutality and heroism needed for a big screen Aloy.
2. EMILY BROWNING
Emily Browning is both a beauty and one hell of a thespian. She has portrayed a broad range of personalities on screen, from the frustration of a young, single mother in The Affair, to the protective instinct of an orphaned older sister in the Series of Unfortunate Events pictures, to the toughness of a desperate captive in Sucker Punch. One of her most recent and memorable roles, though, has been that of Laura Moon on the Starz series, American Gods. She plays an undead wife, blessed with superhuman strength, which she uses to brutalize anyone that gets in her way as she searches for her husband.
3. HANNAH MARKS
Hannah Marks is relatively new to the acting game compared to some of the others on this list, but she is already getting plenty of notice in Hollywood. She's played a number of smaller TV and film roles, but it wasn't until the often-overlooked Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency hit the airwaves that her acting chops got a chance to blossom. Her recent starring movie, Banana Split, has been met with both critical and audience praise.
4. BELLA THORNE
Bella Thorne has been on the map for some time now, scoring roles in over forty movies. This is a pretty big accomplishment for one so young. Her most famous films include Blended, DUFF, and Midnight Sun. Her role as a femme fatale in the Netflix Babysitter films was a dark comedic one, displaying both confidence and ferocity. Some would say it's yet to be seen whether or not she has the talent to carry a major movie franchise. This could be her chance to prove herself.
5. SAMARA WEAVING
Here is another alum of Netflix's The Babysitter films, this one having starred in the titular role. Unlike Bella Thorne, Weaving's part in these underrated movies exhibited a broad range for the young actress, taking her from empathetic and protective to sociopathic and violent. Her recent big screen portrayal of a newlywed in mortal danger in Ready or Not really showed off just how tough Weaving can play on screen, making her a pretty good pick for Aloy.
6. ZAZIE BEETZ
Who says a movie version of Aloy has to match her video game model physically? Any number of talented young actresses could potentially play the role, sans red hair. Zazie Beetz hardly needs an introduction, as she has been making waves on both the small and big screen for years now. Her most recognized roles include those in hit show Atlanta, Deadpool 2, and Joker. She has yet to headline a major tentpole franchise. This could be her shot.
7. KATE MARA
Kate Mara is one of two incredibly talented sister actresses, the other being Rooney Mara, who only fell short of this spot on the list due to a less Aloy-like look. Popular works include House of Cards, We Are Marshall, and The Martian. But it was her titular role in the movie, Meagan Leavey, in which she plays a brave U.S. Marine Corporal with a heart of gold that puts her on the map for the part of Aloy.
8. ANYA TAYLOR-JOY
Anya Taylor-Joy is hot in Hollywood right now, coming off breakout roles in Thoroughbreds, The Witch, and Split (as well as its follow-up, Glass). Her specialty seems to be playing innocent-come-badass, always ending things by ending things for those who oppose her, and/or simply surviving. Who does this sound like?
9. MADELINE BREWER
Madeline Brewer started her acting career impressively, with roles in two of Netflix's first original series, Orange is the New Black, and Hemlock Grove. Of course, she is now most famous for her role as the psychologically damaged Tricia in Hulu's hit original show, The Handmaid's Tale.Brewer has been able to expertly handle the duality of Tricia's psyche, displaying fragility caused by trauma inflicted on her during the events of the show, while still maintaining unbelievable strength and courage in the face of adversity. These are the acting chops necessary to properly embody Aloy on the big screen. And, obviously, her look is perfect.
10. KRISTEN STEWART
Kristen Stewart needs no introduction. Well, maybe she could use one, considering her intro to most audiences came in the form of teen romance vampire over-drama Twilight, which somehow made vampires uncool for something like a decade. But, Stewart has rebounded amazingly, starring in a range of interesting roles ever since. Some of these are Camp X-Ray, Adventureland, and Personal Shopper.More recent movies have exhibited her ability to play the tenacious heroine. These include American Ultra, Underwater, and the rebooted Charlie's Angels. Now is the perfect time for Stewart to take the reins of a big action blockbuster franchise.
11. ROSE LESLIE
Rose Leslie is a Scottish actress with blazing red hair and talent oozing out of her pores, but you know her as wildling, Ygritte, from Game of Thrones. That one role proves she's got what it takes to play Aloy, as she displayed fear, compassion, and vengeful rage as Jon Snow's first love. He still knows nothing. She has also appeared in The Good Fight and Downton Abbey, as well as creepfest horror movie, Honeymoon.
12. AMANDA COLLIN
Amanda Collin doesn't have a long resume, but what she has done is exceptional. She played a pivotal role in the Department Q movie franchise, and then broke out as the duplicitous, manipulative Marie in A Horrible Woman. But what most people will know her from is her recent, starring role in the HBO Max exclusive series, Raised by Wolves. She plays Mother, an android sent to a habitable planet in a far-away solar system after the destruction of Earth. Her mission is to ensure the survival of mankind by populating the planet using human embryos. The point here is that she uses lethal force to protect the children born, and will use such force to stop anyone from hindering the future of the human race. 'Nough said.
You must be pretty great if you only use one name and everyone goes along with it. And Zendaya is certainly that! A triple threat, Zendaya is a successful actress, singer and producer at the tender age of 24. While she's been working for over a decade, it was her starring role on HBO hit show, Euphoria, wherein she played a struggling teenage drug addict that really put her on the map. In fact, it led to her winning the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Other notable performances include The Greatest Showman, Malcolm & Marie, and her role as the new MJ in Spider-Man: Homecoming and its sequel, Spider-Man: Far from Home.Zendaya's talent is unquestionable. Clearly it's time for her to step up to the next level, playing the lead in a tentpole blockbuster film.
14. EVAN RACHEL WOOD
Come on, you already know where I'm going with this one. Evan Rachel Wood has played the fearsome, clever, battle-hardened android, Dolores, through 3 seasons of Westworld, HBO's sci-fi western ninja dramatic action extravaganza. There is no question that she's got what it takes to play Aloy wonderfully. Evan Rachel Wood has been in a slew of other movies and TV shows, but none of that matters. She's Dolores!
15. FLORENCE PUGH
Florence Pugh is on fire right now, and her star is only set to rise. I mean, literally: She's been nominated for a BAFTA EE Rising Star Award. Known works include The Falling, Lady Macbeth, Midsommar, and the starring role of WWE's butt-kicking Paige in the biopic, Fighting with My Family. She also played a recruited agent sent to infiltrate a terrorist cell in The Little Drummer Girl.Playing the lead role of Aloy in a film version of Horizon Zero Dawn certainly seems like a next logical step in Pugh's rise up the ladder.
