British People Are Bidding up to $87,000 to Buy a Photo of a PS5

A scam so dumb it just might work.

Console scalping with the PS5 and Xbox Series X this month went pretty out of control, with people listing units on eBay, Craigslist, and StockX for well over $1,000,000.

But as the pandemic drains grifters' energy levels, they've become so lazy they started honestly just posting *photos* of PS5's online and listing them for thousands of dollars. And from the look of it, some desperate gamers are taking the bait.

It's yet to be confirmed that one of these sales has actually gone through, but bids have definitely been placed. While all these posts do say they're only selling a photo, some suggest you might get the actual console with it, which is kinda scummy.

Seeing which idiots don't read anything before putting down a couple thousand dollars. Is that the free market at work? I guess it is.

This one going for £21,000 is about $28,000 USD.

For some reason these posts are all in England, eBay took down the U.S. ones. Guess they don't care about British people?

The description of this one says: "Don’t moan if you receive a photo in the mail. Read description before you buy."

The funny thing about this photo is that it's not even as nice as the one right here:

This one is actually listed for less than a dollar.

Why is the nicest looking photo listed for the cheapest? Truly puzzling.

This photo actually looks pretty nice. Might be worth it.

Why is the exact same photo listed twice for so much more?

Because it comes with this message saying you'll get a real PS5 too.

Although they could actually be saying you'll just get a second print out of this text photo. Hmm...

Another PS5 photo, listed for $15,000, had this message attached, although in the post it clearly states you're ONLY getting the photo.

After my bid on this goes through I'll report back to see what I actually get. Wish me luck.
